F1-EL2: Nico Rosberg dominates the Ferraris

If the first free practice session this morning in Great Britain had seen him dominate the debates, despite a loss of hydraulic pressure who had forced Mercedes to change the gearbox of the W06 Hybrid n°6, Nico Rosberg had a much quieter second session to achieve the double this Friday at Silverstone.

The German, also in good spirits on the long relays, rose to the top of the British “charts” with a best time established in 1’34″155, the best lap completed today, and ahead of both Ferrari SF15-T Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel by a little more than three tenths, the two Scuderia drivers being separated by only 20 thousandths.

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) takes fourth place ahead of a trio of single-seaters equipped with the turbo/hybrid V6 block Renault, taken by the Red Bull of the Russian Daniil Kvyat who precedes his teammate Daniel Ricciardo. Nico Hulkenberg (Force India) slots into eighth position between the two Toro Rosso de Max Verstappen et Carlos Sainz, while Felipe Massa places first Williams FW37 in the top 10.

The session was interrupted twice by track exits at the same Luffield corner of Romain Grosjean (Lotus) and Roberto Merhi (Manor). The Frenchman, replaced this morning in EL1 by the third driver ofenstone Jolyon Palmer lost riding time this Friday. Fernando Alonso also made a mistake in the same place, but was able to continue without causing a red flag.

The third free practice session will take place tomorrow morning from 11 a.m. French time before the qualifications scheduled from 14 p.m., and which will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr.
