F1-EL3: Red Bull remains without rival in India

Sebastian Vettel should still take pole at the Indian Grand Prix. The Championship leader, who should take the crown for the 4th time in a row this weekend, achieved the best time in 1'25"332 at the end of a shortened 20-minute session due to a thick pollution fog hindering visibility. The German was more than half a second ahead of his teammate Mark Webber who also focused his work on the yellow sidewall tires. Fernando Alonso et Nico Hulkenberg are the only other drivers to finish less than a second behind the three-time world champion's benchmark time. The Lotus of Romain Grosjean completes the top five ahead of Felipe Massa, Paul di Resta and Nico Rosberg who finished grouped in just 6 thousandths. Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton complete the top ten, the pilot Mercedes having been notably hampered in his first lap launched on soft tires by the Frenchman from theenstone.

Kimi Räikkönen was further behind as he finished in 11th place ahead of the Williams of Pastor Maldonado and the McLaren by Sergio Pérez. Adrian Sutil is 14th ahead of Toro Rosso by Jean-Eric Vergne, the Williams of Valtteri Bottas. Daniel Ricciardo ranks 17th ahead of Charles Pic and Esteban Gutiérrez. Giedo van der Garde, Max Chilton and Jules Bianchi complete the time sheet.

Qualifying for the Indian Grand Prix will be contested from 10:30 a.m.
