Fernando Alonso, cruel disillusionment

Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) can be blamed but, unlike other early eliminations, this one is not the result of bad luck or a strategic error. In his last fast lap of Q2, the Spanish driver failed to enter the top 10, ahead of Adrian Sutil (Force India) then Kamui Kobayashi (Sauber). If the blow is hard for the double World Champion, he tries to absorb it.

« I wasn?t very fast in this last lap, explains Alonso. I attacked as much as possible but it wasn't enough. The problem is really not the mistake I made in the previous lap because I knew I was slower than in my best lap. The problem is that we are simply not competitive. We saw it in Q1, where Felipe and I finished ninth and tenth. We need to improve for next time. We are not in the right rhythm. »

To bring a downside to Fernando Alonso's comments, it should be noted that Felipe Massa managed to qualify in Q3 by running in 1:27:200, four tenths better than his teammate. But Stefano Domenicali confirms that the Scuderia's result is not satisfactory. “ Of course, this qualifying performance is far from what we hoped for. We don't know why and we need to find the reasons. »
