Fernando Alonso, a first in more than 15 years

To find evidence of such a start to Fernando Alonso's season, we have to go back more than 15 years when he only had one world champion title.

In Melbourne, Fernando Alonso has once again confirmed that the departure made by Aston Martin in 2023 is no coincidence. After his podiums in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the Bull of Asturias once again entered the box by finishing in 3rd place again.e position thus extending its good series at the start of the year.

On Albert Park, the double world champion was able to benefit from an AMR23 still performing just as well which asserted itself a little more as the second force on the field only behind the RB19 of Red Bull. This suggests a good continuation since the first developments have not even been placed on the car green. Fernando Alonso is obviously delighted by his results but he is looking for better performances and why not a first victory in 10 years. “ I think we need to get a little higher on the podium... We need to at least aim for second place! »

A champion start

For Asturian aficionados, the dream is not forbidden. It must be said that the Spaniard finally (re)has competitive equipment and allows his most loyal supporters to see a bright future with Aston Martin. Moreover, this start of the season could bring back fond memories because Fernando Alonso is repeating a feat that he has only been able to achieve twice in his career.

Indeed, to see the old driver Alpine getting on the podium in the first three Grands Prix goes back to 2006! At the time, Fernando Alonso started with two victories (Bahrain and Australia) and a 2e place in Malaysia before continuing with two new podiums and four other victories during the next 6 rounds, and winning the title at the end of the year with Renault. A performance already achieved in 2005 when he attacked his campaign with a 3e place in Bahrain and three victories in the process before being crowned for the first time in his career.

On the other side of the Pyrenees, the Alonsistas dream of seeing him achieve a 3e crown. Moreover, the only two times he had achieved this type of performance he had been crowned at the end of the season. This time, we are a little further from the score as Red Bull dominates but seeing Fernando Alonso fighting at the front gives us all a smile and above all the right to dream!

Enough to trigger the enthusiasm of Fernand's fans but the Red Bulls still seem to be in another division! To be continued ...
