Ferrari “agrees on the essentials” for the 2021 Concorde agreements

Are you about to sign the new 2021 Concorde Agreements?

This year has been crucial in trying to finalize them, and the progress has been significant. Inasmuch as Ferrari, we have played a leadership role because of our history, because of the importance of F1 for the firm.

Given our credibility in Formula 1, we are here to ensure that the sport retains its fundamental DNA and its capacity to innovate. Thus, on various fronts, including one of the most important, the standardization of certain parts, there have been discussions.

I think we have reached a relatively good compromise in terms of cost cap, which applies to the chassis today. We are in favor of it because we think it is good for the economic sustainability of Formula 1.

We and others have made some sacrifices so that smaller teams get more money. Overall, there are still many details to be worked out, but we agree on the essentials. I am completely convinced that an agreement will be reached in the best interest of all.

Toto wolff appears to be a credible candidate to succeed Chase Carey at Liberty Media. Would you welcome his arrival at the head of the F1 Group?

Entrusting F1 to anyone who has been an active and important member of certain teams in recent years would automatically create conflicts of interest. I don't think that would necessarily be a good thing. Chase who comes from the entertainment world did a very good job.

We need a CEO (at the F1 Group. Ed.) because it is a public company, but a CEO who has experience mainly in the field of entertainment. Our position is that if Mattia (Binotto. Editor's note) was the candidate to replace Chase Carey, I think the rest of the paddock would not be too happy. It just makes sense.

Logical… Like the arrival one day of Lewis Hamilton in Maranello?

Honestly, I don't want to get into this debate. You (the media. Editor’s note) are pushing the Lewis story a little too hard. As we said, this is completely premature and we will review our options at the appropriate time and see what suits us best as a team.
