Ferrari in trouble in Singapore

The Ferrari SF70Hs were expected at the forefront on the Marina Bay circuit which is hosting the Singapore GP this weekend, but the single-seaters of Maranello were behind in the second session. If Sebastian Vettel was the closest to the benchmark in EL1, he and his teammate struggled more when testing resumed.

Sebastian Vettel finished FP2 with the 11th fastest time, more than two seconds behind the new lap record set by Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull). The four-time world champion failed to complete a clear lap with the ultra-soft tires, his tests having been disrupted by contact with the low wall.

“I’m not satisfied yet. We lack a little balance and as a result we lose confidence, explained Sebastian Vettel. We tried several things, but I'm not sure they were the right ones. This isn't the first Friday we've been in trouble and I'm sure it will be close tomorrow. We were both (with Kimi Räikkönen) dissatisfied with today and we need to improve, but I am sure we will find the solution given enough time. »

Kimi Räikkönen was able to complete a time attempt without major problems, but the 2007 world champion only achieved the ninth fastest time.

“It was an overall difficult day, confirmed the Finn. There is a lot of work to do. It's not exactly what we were hoping for to start here but we'll move forward. I'm sure we can improve. This isn't the first time this has happened. »

The Ferraris failed to reach the podium at the Singapore GP last year with Kimi Räikkönen fourth ahead of his teammate. Sebastian Vettel, on the other hand, won during the eighth edition in 2015.
