Ferrari launches its SF90

In the temple of Maranello, this Friday, February 15 was synonymous with baptism. The one of the brand new car for the Scuderia Ferrari, which is always an event on the other side of the Alps.

Trans trainingalpine revealed this morning its SF90 (in reference to 90 years of the Scuderia), which will be entrusted to the duo Sebastian Vettel - Charles Leclerc, with the mission already announced: regain a world title that all of Italy has been waiting for since 2008 (the last Constructors' crown).

The livery remains predominantly red, this time with a matte shade, and with black to highlight the Mission Winnow logo, which appeared last year on the Ferrari single-seater. The Halo is no longer painted red this year.

Very reworked aerodynamics

The front and rear wings of the SF90 appear as the main novelty, under the new technical regulations. The bargeboards have also been revised, with a maximum height reduced in 2019 to 350 mm.

The SF90 features an engine hood largely reworked by Maranello engineers. “The hood is narrower to improve the aerodynamic efficiency of the car, says Ferrari.

The work on the engine components and the movement of some of its accessories led to a reduction in the space occupied, thus making it possible to design a much more compact body.

With the advantage of “cleaning” the air flow towards the rear wing. The air intake now has a similar shape to that of the 2016 car, while work on fluid dynamics inside the car achieves the same level of cooling efficiency as the SF71H, all while occupying less space. »

The 2019 Power Unit, code name 064, has been improved in terms of combustion in the heat engine, but also in terms of energy recovery. The energy storage system has seen its volume and mass reduced.
