Ferrari can't afford internal tensions in 2020: Häkkinen

The emerging rivalry between Sebastian Vettel et Charles Leclerc will have been an essential point in the 2019 campaign of the Team Ferrari. The Italian team knows that it will need manage the relationship between its two pilots to best approach a 2020 season that Ferrari wants to succeed before the big shift in 2021 with the new technical regulations.

In his column for Unibet, Mika Häkkinen, double world champion with McLaren, believes that this management will be a major element of Maranello’s success in 2020. “Ferrari remains a strong team, of course, and the straight line speed of this year's car was pretty incredible, relates the Finn.

However, they cannot afford to make operational errors, strategic errors or suffer internal team tensions if they want to beat Mercedes et Red Bull Racing next year.

This is only the second time in his career Formula 1 that Sebastien is beaten by a teammate, Charles winning two Grands Prix against one for Sebastien. And the young Monegasque took pole position in a third of the races.

Both drivers are clearly pushing each other, but, as we saw when there was the collision in Brazil, Mattia Binotto faces the challenge of making them work together in the same way as Lewis Hamilton et Valtteri Bottas at Mercedes. »

The Hamilton – Bottas association has once again brought back the Manufacturers' crown to Germany, a title behind which Ferrari has been racing since 2008. The Scuderia also announced during its end-of-year celebrations important work for 2020 on its car, both mechanically and aerodynamically.
