Ferrari cannot find the solution

The last German Grand Prix once again confirmed the difficulties of the Team Ferrari in this 2016 season. The Maranello single-seaters were unable to compare with the Mercedes but especially in the face of both Red Bull RB12 Daniel Ricciardo et Max Verstappen, authors of a double podium behind the winner Lewis Hamilton.

If the Ferrari drivers are still optimistic, there is no doubt that the second part of the season should resemble a minefield for Maurizio Arrivabene's men. In addition to the departure of its technical director James Allison, replaced in his functions by Mattia Binotto, the historic stable of the F1 faces recurring problems of the SF16-H, which lacks performance compared to its rivals, and whose solution is slow to present itself, despite the introduction of new features such as a rear diffuser revised in Hungary.

“While a week ago in Hungary our race pace was completely respectable, here in Hockenheim we experienced again problems with both mechanical grip and support, which are unfortunately not unknown to us, confesses Maurizio Arrivabene, Team Principal of the Scuderia.

Clearly, we need to respond as quickly as possible to remedy these issues and above all, we must not waste too much time in the process. Having been overtaken in the Manufacturers' Championship pushes us to react and perform better in the second part of the season, after the summer break. »

Red Bull Racing took advantage of the Italian poor performances to climb into second position in the Manufacturers' standings. A situation that Ferrari and its drivers want to reverse, who want to maintain hope.

“Fifth and sixth positions were the best result we could get, but obviously we can't accept that, pounds Hag. We will work to improve and we know what to do, the things that will come for the next races have always been part of our plans.

The first part of the season didn't go the way we wanted, we have to work on ourselves and, for my part, there were too many ups and downs which cost me a few points. »

“We need a little time and work to get there. It is important for us to find improvements and work together. » adds Kimi Räikkönen.

Except that 2017 is getting closer and closer (as evidenced by the start of Pirelli tire testing), and that Italian resources will logically be increasingly directed towards the project for the next season, which will see the introduction of new technical regulations.
