Force India to be saved by a consortium led by Lawrence Stroll

Force India should continue his adventure in F1. The team, placed under judicial administration last Friday by the English courts after an action initiated in particular by the driver Sergio Pérez (one of the creditors of the structure) will exit this regime led by the company FRP Advisory LLP.

An agreement was in fact reached by the entity and the director of operations of Force India Otmar Szafnauer, with a consortium of investors led by the Canadian businessman Lawrence Stroll.

Lance's father, current pilot Williams in F1, has joined forces with entrepreneur Andre Desmarais, Jonathan Dudman of Monaco Sports and Management, John Idol, fashion businessman, John McCaw Jr, telecoms investor, financial expert Michael de Picciotto and Silas Chou, partner of Lawrence Stroll.

“This result guarantees the future of Force India in Formula 1 and will allow our team to evolve to its full potential, mentions Szafnauer. I am delighted that we have the support of a consortium of investors who believe in us as a team and who see the considerable commercial potential that Force India has within F1 today and in the future. »

The financial details, in particular the amount, have not been communicated, but all guarantees, in particular to pay current debts and ensure immediate liquidity, appear to have been provided, as confirmed by Geoff Rowley, the administrator seconded to the affair.

“We ultimately obtained a very credible offer to save the company and restore solvency. All creditors will be paid in full, all jobs will be preserved (405 in total) and the team will have significant funding to invest in its future.

Funds to support the team will be available starting today, with plenty more available once the company emerges from administration, which we expect within two to three weeks. »

The pilot question

The arrival of Lawrence Stroll in the direct fold of Force India also opens questions about future drivers. It is indeed hard to imagine Lance Stroll not arriving in one of the seats of the stable in the long term.

It remains to know the future ofEsteban Ocon, supported by Mercedes engine supplier to Force India, but who has seen the track Renault dissipate with the recent confirmation of Daniel Ricciardo, and Sergio Pérez, one of the team's creditors.
