Franz Tost: “Every beautiful story has an end”

Franz Tost - Team Principal AlphaTauri F1 Team

You have been at the head of this team since 2005. Are you leaving on your own or was it a choice that was imposed on you?

It's my decision. I had been thinking about it for two years already, and I spoke about it regularly with Dietrich Mateschitz (co-founder of the empire Red Bull died in October 2022. Editor’s note). The reason is simple… I’m 67! When I was younger, I always told myself that if I had the chance to occupy a leadership position like today, then I would not hold on to the seat, and I would cede the position to people more young, more talented, more motivated and more creative. It's time for me to say goodbye to F1, a sport that I love very much. Every good story has an ending. And with the recruitment of Peter Bayer (former FIA general secretary.

So 67 years old, retirement in Austria is late!! But the good professor Helmut (80 years old) is still faithful to his post...
