At Interlagos, Sergio Pérez fought with Fernando Alonso on the track, the drivers Mercedes with their W14, and Carlos Sainz with its clutch. The Spaniard, who started seventh on the grid for the Brazilian Grand Prix, suffered at the start, with difficulty managing the slippage of his Ferrari. A place lost, and an eighth place during the restart after the red flag caused on the first lap due to the accident between Albon et Magnussen.

“We still had a problem with the clutch in both starts, like [Saturday] in Sprint, and we struggled with that part throughout the weekend”, declared the Madrilenian after the race. Exasperated by his mechanics after the second start of the day, Carlos Sainz did not mince his words on his radio: “We'll have to throw away this clutch as soon as we get back to Maranello! » he demonstrated to his team just after the restart.

Carlos Sainz, stuck in traffic, then had an attacking race: faster than the Mercedes in front of him, the Spaniard was stuck in a “DRS train” for a long time, before finally taking the advantage over the Arrows. 'Money after pit stops. Already left behind by Lance stroll for 5th place, the Ferrari driver had to settle for a slightly bitter 6th place.

“I had a good first stint, but the Aston Martin, Red Bull and McLaren were a little faster than us. At least we managed to overtake Mercedes, but we probably missed the opportunity, with the absence of Charles [Leclerc], to take even more points from Mercedes., regrets the Iberian. However, with the retirement of George Russell and the distant 8th place of Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari has recovered some points in the Constructors' championship: the gap now stands at 20 points before the last two rounds of the year.

Carlos Sainz expects to see Ferrari return to the forefront at the next Grand Prix, in Las Vegas, which will favor the teams with the best top speeds. The Spaniard is also engaged in a great battle for 4th place in the Drivers' championship: Fernando Alonso, Lando Norris and him are only separated by six points!
