Giedo Van der Garde becomes reservist at Sauber

Established for his first season in F1 at Caterham last year, Giedo Van der Garde was not renewed by the team founded by Tony Fernandes. The Dutchman will ultimately be third driver at Sauber F3 Team for 1. ?For me, this is an important step in my career, did he declare. My goal is to help the team develop the new car. But of course, I'm a racing driver, and I want to show the team and everyone what I'm capable of and that I deserve a starting seat in the Sauber team for 2015. After all, my ambition remains unchanged: I want to have a successful career in F1. I'm really excited to have signed a contract with Sauber. For any racing driver, it?s a dream to work with such a well-established team. I am truly grateful for this opportunity and will do my best to succeed. » He will team up alongside the two titular drivers at Hinwil, the German Adrian Sutil and the Mexican Esteban Gutiérrez.

Van der Garde had a best result of 14th place in 2013 in Hungary. The Caterham team should announce its two starting drivers in the morning as well as its reserve driver.
