Expected to replace Pascal Wehrlein next week at the Barcelona tests (Spain), Antonio Giovinazzi has been confirmed by Sauber F1 Team to support Marcus Ericsson in the first tests of the 2017 season.
“I regret not being able to be behind the wheel during the first days of testing, but I will be present in Barcelona to familiarize myself with the team procedures and follow the Sauber C36 on track”, commented the 2015 champion of DTM.
Pascal Wehrlein is still recovering following his accident last January at the Race of Champions in Miami (Florida). This will be the first time that Antonio Giovinazzi will drive a current F1 car, his only run in the discipline having taken place in an old one. Ferrari in Fiorano (Italy).
