Belgian GP 2023: a new date far from trivial

A draft calendar proposed by Liberty Media set the 2023 Belgian GP for July 23.
An unrealistic date given the police mobilization for the national holiday on July 21 and the organization of the Francofolies in Spa at the same time, an event which attracts tens of thousands of spectators and fills hotels for miles around.
Fortunately, it seems that the organizers of the 2023 Hungarian GP have agreed to hold their event on July 23 and leave Spa the last weekend of the month. A change which, despite everything, leads to numerous upheavals.
« We are considering organizing the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on July 1 and 2, we were told by SRO, organizer of the event. We will have to adapt, but it will not be easy. For us, this upheaval involves 11 changes to dates in other championships.
Furthermore, we wish to maintain the principle of Speedweek with the organization of a round of the French GT4 championship a week earlier (i.e. June 24. Editor’s note).”
This would have a domino effect on other major events such as the Bikers' Classics and the 25 Hours VW Fun Cup which usually take place respectively on the 1st and 2nd weekend of July.
« We will wait for the publication of the final schedule before acting, Florian Jupsin from DG Sport told us. What is very annoying is that the F1 mobilizes three beautiful weeks of July, but we can only bend our backs. »

Unlike France, Belgium and Spa remain in the 2023 catalog but without visibly having any choice on the date of the event!!
