Korean GP: trick to circumvent the regulations?

The presence of the Korean GP on the 2015 calendar of the F1 surprised the entire paddock. It is true that the Yeongam circuit did not leave a lasting memory: mediocre structures, anonymous location, boring layout... Even the organizers of the event seem to have been surprised by the news. Since then, the possibility ofan urban race in the streets of Seoul, The capital of the country.

But the explanation could lie elsewhere. A calendar of 21 Grands Prix would allow teams to still benefit from five Power Units for the season, while the regulation plans to reduce the number to four in 2015 “if the calendar does not have more than 20 races”. But nothing would force F1 to go to Korea since this point is applicable even if the race does not take place.

No element has come to confirm this hypothesis for the moment, but this explanation seems credible in any case, as the Korean GP suffered from bad reviews during these first four editions from 2010 to 2013. It remains to be seen what the FIA which could oppose such an interpretation of the regulations.
