Canadian GP 2011: Sebastian Vettel remembers

Sebastian Vettel returns to the Canadian Grand Prix which left all the drivers present during the 2011 edition with unforgettable memories of a race that became completely crazy with the particularly rainy conditions which frequently spiced up the event. The German was on the verge of offering the first victory of Red Bull Racing on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit, but the three-time world champion gave in to pressure from Jenson Button on the very last lap of the race, allowing the driver McLaren to achieve a real feat since he found himself in last position.

The Championship leader could well add Montreal to the list of winners of the Milton Keynes team this Sunday, but he can only remember his missed opportunity. “Why do I love the Canadian Grand Prix? The circuit offers good speed and it is one of the best races of the season. The atmosphere and spectators are fantastic. One of the craziest moments was in 2011. There was so much rain, I have never experienced such a downpour since. We had a very long break during the race while we were in the lead. The ordeal had been difficult. Half a lap from the finish, I made my first mistake of the race which cost me the victory. But these things happen and it’s great for the spectators when they don’t know who will be the winner until the last moment. »
