Mexican GP: Bottas and Räikkönen give their versions

It all started at the Russian GP played on October 11 in Sochi. Kimi Räikkönen collided with Valtteri Bottas while attempting to grab third place on the final lap, forcing the driver Williams to abandon. In Mexico, it was the latter who attempted a maneuver on the 2007 world champion. Contact (video) obliged the pilot Ferrari to dismount, right rear wheel torn off, while his compatriot climbed to the last step of the podium.

“It didn't have to end like this. I was on the inside in turn 5 and we collided. I had no space », defended himself Valtteri Bottas. “We had a collision in Russia but it's bad luck that it happened again here. We're fighting the hard way and I wasn't going to give in. I had calculated the risk and felt that I had the possibility of overtaking, but it didn't end as planned. »

For his part, Kimi Räikkönen remained frozen. “There are always two ways of looking at things. Everyone can have their own point of view, but I didn't expect a different ending. It's part of the race, but I had envisaged that this could happen after Russia. Did he do it on purpose? I do not know, form your opinion, it does not change the result and it will not influence my future”, commented Iceman.
