Mexican GP: Did Hamilton favor the race?

Lewis Hamilton once again lost in qualifying to his teammate Nico Rosberg in Mexico. The three-time world champion finished two tenths behind the German after showing more difficulty on his W06 Hybrid. But the two pilots Mercedes approached the Grand Prix in a different way by opting for different settings.

“Nico was fast all weekend and I was just able to close the gap.”, explained Lewis Hamilton. “I have had times where car turned out to be quite impressive, but there is still room for improvement, whether behind the wheel or with my settings. My set-up being a little different this weekend, it was perhaps not perfect for qualifying but effective for the race."

Would the Briton have focused on the long stints, knowing that the particularly long starting straight could help him take the advantage? “This second position is one of the best places to start because the straight is very long until the first corner. It was the same in Russia (in Sochi, October 11). I don't know if this one is longer, but this place suits me quite well », added the reigning world champion.

The start of the Mexican GP will be at 20 p.m. French time and will be followed live on Canal+ Sport and in live text on AUTOhebdo.fr.
