Will Russia be ready in time to welcome, for the first time in its history, the Formula 1 ? Yes a date in October 2014 has been brought forward a few days ago, big doubts now remain after the promoter of the event and the Russian Automobile Federation entered into conflict, to the point of not having officially submitted their application to the FIA on time to appear on next year's calendar. But in the area that concerns him, in this case the progress of the work, Hermann Tilke wants to be reassuring: he is “ 100% certain” that the Sochi circuit will be ready in time to host the event.
“The track will be built according to the schedule”, insists the official architect of Formula 1 to the Russian site Championat. And this, even if the work will have to stop from November until the end of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games, which will take place on the same site. “Everything will be ok, he insists, before clarifying the quality of certain constructions, which he had questioned at the start of the work. All these problems are behind us now, everything is solved now”. But when asked about administrative problems, the German kicked in: “Nothing else falls within my area of responsibility.”
