Grosjean must catch up at Silverstone

Building on his fourth place achieved last weekend at the Austrian GP, Romain Grosjean arrived in better conditions at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix contested this weekend.

The pilot Haas however suffered from an off-track in FP1 damaging his VF18 enough for him to miss the second practice session.

“I closed the DRS a little too late and the car had already spun before I had time to recover the air flow, explains the 2011 GP2 Series champion. I didn't even try to reach the limit. We will have no chance of going full throttle with the DRS activated this weekend unlike the Red Bull. It’s unfortunate that it happened at that time since it took us FP2. I didn't hit hard, but the angle of the impact broke a lot of things on the car. »

Romain Grosjean will now rely on the work of his teammate Kevin Magnussen to try to catch up for EL3.

“It would have been interesting to work on the evolution of track temperatures. I was still able to follow the session through Kevin's car by watching what was happening on his car. It was a little more complicated for us this afternoon with the heat of the afternoon. We need to understand which car performs better so far when conditions are cooler.”, underlines the Frenchman.

“We were quite competitive this morning without having to push hard. I hope we can catch up during the last practice session and in Q3 to adapt to the track conditions to have great qualifying and a great race.”, he adds.
