Grosjean and Magnussen remain at Haas in 2019

This is rare enough to be highlighted in a stirring marketing campaign. Formula 1 : in 2019, Haas will not change its driver duo. The American team will continue to place its trust in Romain Grosjean et Kevin Magnussen, as Gunther Steiner announced in the paddock of Sochi (Russia) on Friday morning.

« It is no coincidence that Haas reaped their best results this season in their second year of joint partnership, explains the main Austrian team. By keeping Romain and Kevin with us, we want to do even better than currently. »

Before the Russian Grand Prix, Haas is fifth in the Manufacturers' standings (76 points), and has the fourth position of Renault in line of sight (15 points behind). By way of comparison, Haas only finished an average of eighth place during the 2016 and 2017 campaigns.

“I think the 100 point mark (registered in one season) must and will be exceeded, and we will do it with Romain and Kevin. These two drivers both transcend each other, and their technical feedback allows us to improve. »

Author of a finish at the foot of the podium in Austria end of June, Romain Grosjean therefore preserved his seat. “Gene Haas built something special, something we can improve upon, explains the Frenchman. It's impressive to see what the team has been able to accomplish in just three years of existence. I am proud of the effort and time invested to make Haas competitive. »

As for Kevin Magnussen, he admits “never having been in such a situation” since his arrival in F1 in 2014 (at McLaren). “It’s a team made up of competitors, there is no bureaucracy and everything is simple. » It remains to obtain the honorary rank of “best of the others” behind Mercedes, Ferrari et Red Bull.
