Grosjean: testing on a wet track will be essential

Romain Grosjean will pilot the Haas VF17 during the final day of testing of the first winter test session in Barcelona (Spain), Thursday March 2, where the track will be wet to allow testing of Pirelli's grooved tires. These tests will be particularly important with the new regulations which offer wider tires than in recent seasons and single-seaters generating more downforce.

“It will be very important. When Günther (Steiner, Haas Team Principal F1 Team) told me that I will be on track when the track is wet, he added that I had to ride with wet tires given my performance in Brazil, explained the former GP2 champion who went off the track at Interlagos before the start of the Grand Prix. I thanked him and added that it was very kind of him. »

“Seriously, it will be very important to see how the wet tires behave. Pirelli has worked a lot on these tires. Aquaplaning will be more difficult to manage since they will be wider. We must prepare for any eventuality by working on maps and settings in order to be ready for the wet track sessions. said Romain Grosjean.

Romain Grosjean will be on track the last two days, while Kevin Magnussen will be the first on track Monday February 27 and Tuesday February 28. However, the tests on a wet track could be postponed in the event of rainy weather.

Haas F1 Team will unveil the VF17 on Sunday February 26, the same day as Red Bull Racing et Toro Rosso.
