Grosjean improved this afternoon at Monza

Romain Grosjean had no longer driven at Monza at the wheel of a F1 since the 2009 season when he defended the colors of Renault F1 Team. The Lotus driver was able to find his bearings today during the first free practice sessions by finishing with the same time as his teammate Kimi Räikkönen, the E21s being the closest to the Red Bull de Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. “We had a good day’s work”, comments the Frenchman. “We were perhaps a bit far away due to some adjustments, but it worked again this afternoon and the results were positive. It's only Friday and what we saw on track may not reflect much. As usual, we also worked on the tires, Sunday's strategy and aerodynamic settings to optimize straight-line speed. »

If Lotus F1 Team showed promising performances after these first free practices, Romain Grosjean does not want to draw hasty conclusions about qualifying. The French pilot still made an impression by placing himself exactly at the level of his teammate who has a car with the extended wheelbase supposed to offer better performance on the Italian track. “We sent a lot of data to the factory for analysis. Data is important, but the feeling behind the wheel is the pinnacle of the work done on the track. We are still analyzing everything and I don't have a clear answer or conclusion to give at this time. (Regarding the grid), things are not yet clear enough. As we saw in Spa, conditions can change quickly. »
