After two first races where Haas resurrected through the revenant Kevin Magnussen, scoring more points on these first meetings than on all those of the two previous seasons, the Australian Grand Prix was the return to earth for the American team. Faced with several problems during the Australian weekend, Guenter Steiner's team was unable to leave Melbourne with any points in their bag.

“The whole weekend was very difficult, starting with small problems with Mick's car (Schumacher. Editor’s note) and Kevin who was not in top form because he was not feeling well, comments Haas main team F1 team. However, with all these obstacles, we still got closer to the points. In the race we were unlucky with the safety cars which could have helped our strategy, but we put Australia behind us. It's not a negative point, but it's a very competitive championship this year and you have to be perfect to get points. I hope we will be less unhappy at Imola. »
Imola where the first sprint race of the season will be held. “For sure it will be a challenge because we only have one free practice session to find a good setup. With the difficulties of these cars and the inexperience we have with them, it won't be easy but it's the same for everyone and whoever is better prepared will have a better car so we will try to do our best. I think it’s a good thing for the championship to have the sprint races and I’m really looking forward to it. » In 2022, the format of sprint races has been revised and they will therefore deliver more points. Hence the importance of not passing through this first sprint meeting of the year.
