Günther Steiner: Romain Grosjean is a key element

Leaving Lotus F1 Team, about to be bought by Renault for the return to F1 of Losange as constructors, Romain Grosjean had chosen the challenge of taking on the adventure Haas, new arrival on the 2016 grid.

Support by Ferrari on the technical level, with the engine supply of the Italian V6 turbo / hybrid, Gene Haas' team showed its advantage at the start of the championship with three top 8s in four races for Romain Grosjean, recruited alongside the Mexican Esteban Gutiérrez to lead the 2016 campaign.

The Frenchman remains four Grands Prix from the end of the championship the only provider of points for Haas F1 Team with 28 points, and if since Austria, no top 10 has come to reward the former GP2 champion, his contribution within of the Kannapolis team remains essential according to its Team Principal.

“I think what he’s given us is confidence about where the car is, explains Günther Steiner in an interview with ESPN. If he complains about the car sometimes, he knows what the car needs to do.

He's not telling you this to make you happy. He tells you with his experience: the car is doing this or that. Either is not good or is quite good. So we are confident. He is one of the essential elements of our success here this year. »

Enough to delight his boss Gene Haas, who recalls his satisfaction with the results of his team. “It’s a great success. The middle of the year was a bit tough for us because we didn't score any points. but I think we did better than expected at the beginning.

We are less happy with what happened mid-season, but we still have four races. We have the latest aero package. So we are optimistic. »

And thus hope to score points in Austin this weekend, for the home Grand Prix for Haas F1 Team, the first team from across the Atlantic to compete in the F1 world championship for thirty years.
