The Texan company MoneyGram, specializing in money transfers, has signed a multi-year contract with Gene Haas' team. The announcement was made on the sidelines of the United States Grand Prix, which will take place this weekend (October 21-23) in Austin… Texas.

The new team name will officially take effect in 2023. In addition, the team's new cars, with their new livery, will be revealed before the start of next season. “We are happy to welcome an incredible brand like MoneyGram as our new title sponsor, said Gene Haas, founder and president of Haas F1 Team. Since our entry into the F1 World Championship in 2016, Haas F1 Team has earned a reputation for strength, agility and resilience. MoneyGram brings a similar dynamism to the world of financial services, and we are ready to work together to maximize results on and off the track. »

Haas, a silver entry to get back on the grid?

Thanks to this partnership with this Texan multinational, Haas strengthens its American identity which had been lost with the previous title sponsor, UralKali, which ended abruptly following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Banbury-based team records a significant cash inflow and consolidates its place on the Formula 1 grid. “MoneyGram is a different company than it was even five years ago, said Alex Holmes, Chairman and CEO of MoneyGram. We will continue to go above and beyond to meet consumers' ever-changing financial needs, and we are determined to make sure the world knows it. That's why we're putting our foot down by making our debut in the world of F1 and teaming up with Gene [Haas] and Haas F1 Team. »

Haas, which has the smallest budget on the grid, and would not yet be at the budget ceiling. This additional investment could help them progress towards their short-term goal of becoming a firmly anchored mid-table team.
