Who will be the teammate of Kevin Magnussen in Haas in 2023? WhileAlpine continued the applications and even organized tests for various pilots for example, the American team for its part is taking its time. Mick Schumacher awaiting departure as he prepares to lose the support of Ferrari, Gene Haas' structure must find a replacement for him for the next campaign.

Present at a press conference this Saturday in Singapore, Guenther Steiner did not escape questions concerning the future of his team. As the end of the season approaches and the last seats begin to find takers, the Italian was not worried.

« We are not in a hurry, he commented with complete serenity when taking stock of the 2e Haas seat for the 2023 season. Things aren't moving too much yet. Why should I be in a hurry? »

Haas in analysis

This does not mean, however, that Guenther Steiner and his teams are sitting back and doing nothing. On the contrary. Aware that we will have to make a choice in the coming weeks in order to settle this matter for good, the main Hass team recognized that they were keeping an eye on the market while not ruling out continuing the adventure with Mick Schumacher whose next results will be closely scrutinized.

« We analyze the things we need to do for the team to improve but also to select the right driver profile, continues the main Haas team. We want to see how Mick does (at the end of the season). We watch lots of things, we don't just sit around and do nothing. We're keeping an eye on what's happening. We know the direction we want to take to make the team stronger next year. But for the moment we are patient, we are not in a hurry as I have already said.

The only thing we don't want to do next year is a bad choice because we might not have done enough (to select the driver in question). I don't think there are many opportunities left (on the market) and we do not intend to let them pass but (once again) We are not in a hurry."

In the event of Mick Schumacher's departure, the 2e seat could go to a Ferrari driver (Robert Shwartzman and Antonio Giovinazzi in the running) or even to Nico Hulkenberg who has still not given up on a return to F1. One thing is certain, time is passing and Haas will quickly have to make a choice despite the words of Guenther Steiner who does not say he is in a hurry to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
