Goodbye black and gold, (again) hello the black, red and white typical of Haas for the 2020 Formula 1 season, with a single-seater driven by Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen.

Haas opens the 2020 presentations with its VF-20

Haas had to lift the veil on his car for season 2020 of Formula 1 in the paddock of Barcelona (Spain) on February 19. But the American structure took everyone by surprise by publishing several virtual photos of its mount.

Named VF-20, the single-seater will be piloted, as in the previous two years, by Romain Grosjean et Kevin Magnussen. Their objective will be not to repeat the disaster of 2019, with only ninth and penultimate place in the Manufacturers' championship (28 points).

“It’s always exciting to see the development of a new F1 car and without a doubt, the VF-20 is set to deliver where its predecessor failed to deliver., says Günther Steiner, the team principal. With the regulations stable for 2020, this has allowed us to improve our understanding of the car and focus more on the quest for solutions in the design of the VF-20.

Günther Steiner stands firm and recognizes that “Last year was a step backwards, which no one wanted, but you learn a lot from these kinds of situations. Every individual on the team was forced to look in the mirror and understand how to do better. »

Visually, it is too premature to draw conclusions on the choices of aerodynamicists, especially since the car will evolve between now and the first Grand Prix in Australia (March 13-15). However, we can note the return to the trio of traditional colors worn by Haas: black, white and red.

« I'm glad to see the car returning to a more familiar livery for Haas, rejoices Gene Haas, founder of Haas Automation, president of Haas F1 Team. Honestly, I hope that the VF-20 will allow us to return to the form we had in 2018 where we finished in fifth place in the championship.

It is important for me to be back in the battle and to regularly score points. We certainly have the capacity to do this and we have proven as an organization that we have already done it. »
