Haas hails 'key role' played by Grosjean and Magnussen

A page turns in the young history of the stable Haas with the upcoming departure of Romain Grosjean, present in the team since its debut in 2016, and Kevin Magnussen, who joined him a year later to replace Esteban Gutiérrez.

The two men scored all of the 200 points amassed by Haas in F1 and allowed Gene Haas's structure to finish 5th in the Manufacturers' championship in 2018.

« I would like to thank Romain and Kevin for their efforts and commitment to the Haas F1 Team in recent years, said Guenther Steiner.

Romain was one of the cornerstones of the initial project. At the time, we needed a driver with speed and experience. The results obtained at the start of 2016 were the just reward for his talent as well as the colossal work put in by the team to be present on the grid.

Kevin's arrival the following year bore fruit immediately. We were now able to score points with both our cars and I won't forget our first double Top 10 finish in Monaco that year.

We have had many great moments together, notably our 2018 season, which ended in 5th place in the Manufacturers' standings for what was only our 3rd F1 campaign. Romain and Kevin played a key role in this success.

There are still quite a few races left in 2020 and even though the season has proven difficult so far, our drivers continue to give their best behind the wheel ».

For Grosjean, the Haas adventure began like a fairy tale with a somewhat miraculous 6th place at the 2016 Australian GP, followed by a 5th place acquired on merit in Bahrain.

The Frenchman's best result with the American team remains 4th place at the 2018 Austrian GP, a result enhanced by the 5th place of his teammate Magnussen. That year, the Dane achieved his best world ranking by finishing 9th in the championship with 11 points finishes in 21 races.
