Hamilton: “It was lost from the start”

Lewis Hamilton looked set to win the Italian Grand Prix for the third time in a row after dominating qualifying yesterday at Monza. The pilot Mercedes however, had to fight to salvage a second place after missing his start and falling to sixth position.

“I don’t know what happened. I did everything as usual, repeating exactly the same sequences. I must have simply had too much skating, a bit like Nico at Hockenheim (Germany).”, explained Lewis Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton only has a two-point lead over Nico Rosberg before the next trip to the F1 scheduled in two weeks in Singapore.

“It was lost from the start. I saw Nico take off. Even though anything can happen, my chances of victory were diminishing every lap, second by second. I understood straight away that it wasn't going to be possible to win the race, but I tried anyway. I took second place and that’s the most I could do.”, added Lewis Hamilton.
