Hamilton sets the pace in EL3 of the Hungarian GP

The last practice session of the Hungarian GP, shortened by a few minutes due to the work of the marshals removing oil deposited on the track following the race F2, allowed Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) to establish the best time. With the soft tires, the championship leader completed a lap in 1’16”064. This is the first real reference, the first day of testing having been disrupted by rain.

Mercedes' direct rival teams are not far away on the short Hungaroring track. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) finished at 13 thousandths, while Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) ranked at 82 thousandths.

The other drivers of the top teams were further behind with Valtteri Bottas more than 2 tenths, while Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) completed the Top 5 ahead Pierre Gasly (Red Bull) who is almost 6 tenths behind his teammate. THE McLaren are in the Top 10 by framing theAlfa Romeo by Kimi Räikkönen, Kevin Magnussen (Haas) taking 10th place with a few hundredths ahead of his teammate Romain Grosjean.

The Renault are behind with Nico Hülkeberg only 13th and Daniel Ricciardo 16th, almost 2 seconds from the benchmark.

Qualifying for the Hungarian GP will be contested from 15 p.m. The latest weather forecasts predict a fairly significant chance of rain. The session will be followed live on Canal+ and with our live text.
