Hamilton on the front row in Baku: “It’s an unexpected result for us”

In difficulty throughout the weekend, Hamilton was able to reverse the trend this Saturday to set the second time, two tenths behind Leclerc. A small miracle according to the English pilot: “It’s an unexpected result for us. We struggled so much all weekend and I think it showed. We worked hard to change things in terms of settings which ultimately made the difference.”

Hamilton insists: finding the perfect setting was particularly complex: “It was so difficult to find the set up that suited us 100%. And in the end, being able to fight in front with them is a fantastic feeling.”

Quite critical of his team during the Monaco Grand Prix, Hamilton is happier today in Baku, praising the merits of Mercedes : “The circuit was not favorable to us and we had to fight to find the perfect compromise. I'm glad I found it, Bottas was not so lucky and finished 10th so it could have been a disaster. I’m very happy with the team today.”
