The Mercedes unsurprisingly finished top of the final practice session for the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne where the weather remained dry after rain disrupted Friday testing. Lewis Hamilton was once again the fastest, completing a lap of Albert Park in 1’25”624, testing the super soft tires for the first time this year. His teammate Nico Rosberg failed by less than two tenths.
Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) was the closest to the W07 Hybrid with two tenths behind, while Carlos Sainz Jr. (Toro Rosso) and Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) complete the top five. Max Verstappen (Toro Rosso) was the first driver to finish more than a second behind the best time.
Romain Grosjean (Haas) and Rio Haryanto (Manor) collided in the stands. The Frenchman was only able to cover 11 laps in the session while Carlos Sainz, Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa (Williams) were the most diligent with 28 loops completed.
