Hamilton eager to battle in the rain

Free practice for the British GP was not very competitive today, with the drivers having to face downpours of water on the Silverstone circuit. The cars suffered from understeer and aquaplaning, which notably trapped Bruno Senna (Williams) who violently left the track at the Chapelle bend. This did not prevent Lewis Hamilton to sign the best time of the day with a time of 1'56"345 which makes him optimistic for the rest of the weekend even if the 2008 champion admits that the track conditions are particularly delicate.

“I had fun today!” I did a few laps, it was a good thing for the spectators who didn't see much today.", regrets the pilot McLaren. “There were so many, I don't remember seeing such a big crowd on Friday, it was incredible. I would have liked to do more laps but unfortunately we didn't have enough tires. Maybe we can think about this in the future. There was a lot of standing water and we were frequently aquaplaning. It was predictable with these heavy rains, of course, but I must admit that the evacuation is bad. You had to use all your senses to avoid losing control. The drivers should be able to make more of a difference in the rain than in the dry and I'm looking forward to the rest of the weekend which should be cold and wet. »
