Hamilton: “I was able to respond to Nico” at Spa

Lewis Hamilton dominated the Belgian GP on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit where he was never really worried. After maintaining his pole advantage, the pilot Mercedes quickly built its lead taking advantage of the poor start of his teammate Nico Rosberg who had to overtake several times to regain his due.

“I was able to respond to Nico who had a good rhythm. I paid attention to my tires when I saw someone else's tire car explode at the end of the race », commented the double world champion who increased his lead over the German to 28 points, and who celebrated in the Belgian Ardennes his sixth victory of the season and the 80th podium of his career in F1, matching Ayrton Senna's performance.

Lewis Hamilton only won with a two-second lead over Nico Rosberg, but the Briton seemed to be able to increase his pace on command. “The race was based on the use of tires. I didn't attack hard on my exit laps and in the next three or four laps. The car was very fast, the balance improved as the race progressed. I didn't really need to push more because I had a comfortable lead, it didn't matter if we won by a tenth or ten seconds.", added the Championship leader.
