Hamilton: “I knew where I was going to end up”

Lewis Hamilton took a big step towards winning a fourth title. The pilot Mercedes signed his third consecutive victory, his seventh of the season, by achieving his 60th success in F1 at the Singapore GP. The Briton has clearly increased his lead in the Championship since Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) finds himself 28 points behind the leader after dropping out in the crash at the start.

“We were very lucky with the Ferraris at the start of the race. I needed the rain and as soon as it came I knew what position I was going to finish in. I knew we had the pace to win in the rain.”, said Lewis Hamilton.

Despite the change in conditions, the track being wet at the start of the event to dry at the end of the race, and three interventions by the safety car, Lewis Hamilton remained untouchable, each time managing to build his lead over Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull).

“I would like to congratulate the team because we collected many points today. We were in difficulty the day before and I had no idea what was going to happen in the race. God blessed me today, that’s for sure. I obviously benefited from the accident. It’s unfortunate for Ferrari but it’s great for our team. Daniel fought very well even if I was hoping to fight with Sebastian, but in the end it's better this way. »

Mercedes also took off on Scuderia Ferrari since third place in Valtteri Bottas and the double retirement of Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel allows the star-studded team to have a 102-point lead over the Prancing Horse.
