Hamilton clear winner: “We must remain humble”

Mastered from A to Z, this was the Singapore Grand Prix experienced by Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) Sunday. The Briton led his car towards victory, the 69th of his career in Formula 1. Enough to allow him to carry his accounting advance 40 points behind Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari).

Lewis Hamilton dominated the event so much that the only thrilling moment of his race was the passage of latecomers. At mid-race, the quadruple world champion was catching up with Sergey Sirotkin (Williams) and Romain Grosjean (Haas), but these two drivers were more concerned about their duel than about the blue flags being waved at the side of the track! Which gave rise to a tense scene, especially since Max Verstappen (Red Bull) had come dangerously close:

“I was unlucky with the traffic, explained the winner. These pilots were making movements, it was difficult to follow them. I think Max was a little luckier. These guys wouldn't let me pass. Phew, it was tight, my heart was beating hard! As soon as I passed them, I was able to attack and get back ahead. »

From the sidelines, Lewis Hamilton did not miss it. He was never put under pressure, whereas until then Mercedes had rarely been comfortable on this winding circuit. It has been several events since the Flèche d'Argent has outdistanced its rival. « We must remain humble, continue to work as seriously as possible. There are still a lot of points to be awarded, but with this performance I honestly believe we can produce weekends like this for the rest of the season. »

Lewis Hamilton seems to be moving a class above the rest of the peloton since the start of the school year. “Regarding my driving, I have other activities outside of motorsport which stimulate me (especially fashion). It doesn't affect my performance, in fact it just enriches it. Physically, it's been exactly a year since I started a plant-based diet and I feel in great shape." Despite this lifestyle, Lewis Hamilton is certainly not satisfied with success…
