Hamilton positive about Texas departure

Still looking for a 50th victory in F1, Lewis Hamilton took a first step in this direction by taking pole position in qualifying for the United States Grand Prix. With this 58th pole, the Briton said he was delighted with his result, which constitutes a first for him on this track, he who has won three times on the COTA and remains the double title holder.

" It's incredible, declared the world champion after the session. This is my first pole here. I've been waiting for this for several years. A lot of great people helped me try to get this, so I'm very, very happy today. »

A pole position which in no way indicates the outcome of tomorrow's start, as Nico Rosberg clearly recalled a few moments later. Especially since Lewis Hamilton has, on several occasions, been in difficulty this season at this moment of the race, causing him to lose precious points against his teammate and rival.

But the Briton admitted not to be worried about the procedure. “We have worked hard over the last two weeks and have found several areas of improvement and understanding on a large number of points. I've been training a lot for the start, so I'm positive about that going into tomorrow. »
