Hamilton complains of lack of power compared to rivals

A pilot Mercedes who claims to enjoy less engine power compared to a racer powered by a Honda unit: this is a shame in the era of V6 turbo hybrids. However, it is the analysis of Lewis Hamilton when explaining his 3rd place on the starting grid for the Brazilian Grand Prix, 0''191 behind the Red Bull of the poleman Max Verstappen

The six-time world champion had nevertheless dominated Free Practice 3 in the morning and thought he would be able to continue this dynamic in qualifying. The session was far from clear for the Silver Arrows since it would be necessary to wait for Hamilton's very last attempt in Q3 to see him appear in the Top 3.

« We looked pretty good in Free Practice 3 and then we lost performance in qualifying, whispered the Briton. Or our competitors have gained in competitiveness. I'm still happy to slip between the Ferrari

We lack power compared to the others. This is where we waste the most time. But I still gave everything. I gained time throughout the session and my last lap in Q3 wasn't bad at all. We just lacked a little pace in a straight line ».

Asked about Honda's progress this season, Hamilton sees it as good news for the health of the F1

« It's always good to have a new manufacturer able to produce quality engines, said the Briton. They are very fast and we have our work cut out for us »

Now that the titles are folded, Hamilton finally admits that he could be a little more aggressive in his approach to the race on Sunday, without deviating too much from his usual course of action.
