Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) won his fourth world title at the Mexican GP, equaling the performance ofAlain Prost and Sebastian Vettel. The Briton was condemned to a comeback race after suffering a puncture on the opening lap following a collision with rival Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari).

The four-time world champion ensured the coronation by getting into the points in ninth place while the German failed to reach the podium after having to go through the pits following contact to change his front wing.

Max Verstappen (Red Bull) took advantage of the mayhem between the two title contenders to take off and dominate the Mexican GP to sign his third victory in F1 after the 2016 Spanish GP and the last Malaysian Grand Prix. The Dutchman took the lead several tens of seconds ahead of Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) and Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari).

Esteban Ocon (Force India) equaled its best performance by taking fifth place ahead of Lance stroll (Williams) and Sergio Pérez (Force India). Kevin Magnussen (Haas) ranks eighth while Fernando Alonso (McLaren) completes the top ten.

Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso) finished in 13th place behind Felipe Massa (Williams) and Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren). Romain Grosjean (Haas) finished last classified behind Pascal Wehrlein (Sauber).

Brendon Hartley (Red Bull), Nico Hulkenberg (Renault), Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull), Marcus Ericsson (Sauber) and Carlos Sainz Jr (Renault) all five retired due to mechanical problems.
