Hamilton: “Everything went wrong”

It has been more than a year since Lewis Hamilton had never experienced such a Grand Prix again. The pilot Mercedes has consistently finished in the Top 5 since the 2018 Austrian GP where he retired due to fuel pressure issues, but he was one of many casualties at the German GP.

Starting from pole, Lewis Hamilton saw the race turn to his disadvantage with multiple pit stops due to the constant change in conditions. Still in the leading group, the Briton made a mistake, leaving the track and damaging his front wing. The championship leader finally failed just outside the Top 10 after getting another scare with a high-speed spin at the first corner, fortunately without major consequences for the five-time world champion. He will finally take 9th place following the Alfa Romeo penalties.

“It was just a bad day and a bad weekend. This is probably one of the worst days of my career in a while, he admitted on Sky Sports. I'm not sure what happened today but I'm focusing on the fact that there are still plenty of races to go this season. We're going to make everything come back stronger. Everything went wrong between my contact with the wall or ending up with the slick tires while it was raining. »

Despite this disappointment, Lewis Hamilton still has something to see ahead. His teammate Valtteri Bottas, who is his closest rival in the championship, dropped out and finds himself 51 points behind in the general classification. To note that the Briton was not penalized for his second investigation for speed too slow under safety car regime.
