Hill: “Michael can still win”

Michael Schumacher leaves no one indifferent, and especially not Damon Hill, who worked alongside Schumi for several seasons, and some of his duels with the German driver have remained in the annals of the Formula 1 (watch in video). The Briton believes that, if he actually binds himself to Mercedes GP, Schumacher will know how to fight for victory.

« If I could win a race at 37 with Jordan (Belgium 1998), so Michael can really win a race with a “Ross Brawn” car at 41 “, he confided in the columns of the Times. “ If that's what Michael wants, then he should go for it »

Michael Schumacher almost returned to competition last summer, having agreed to replace the injured Felipe Massa during the European Grand Prix. But a neck injury, following a fall on a motorbike, prevented him from doing so. Today, Damon Hill fears that this injury will be an obstacle.

« The only problem I see is his neck injury, which stopped his return last summer to replace Felipe Massa, continues Damon Hill. But if he's better in that regard, I don't see why he wouldn't be in good enough shape, or not motivated enough, not to shine again. »

« It has an exceptional shape, continues the Briton. He has never done anything else in his life, it is the only thing to which he is totally devoted. There are people who do risky things but they are programmed to do it anyway. For example, Sir Ranulph Fiennes climbed Everest in his sixties. Some people are made for that, to push their limits and I think Michael is one of them. »
