Hockenheim calls for fan support in 2016

The FIA World Council which was held on Friday July 10 in Mexico City validated the provisional calendar for the 2016 season where the German GP makes its return with Hockenheim. The German circuit, which has alternated with the Nürburgring since 2009, was unable to replace its counterpart following financial problems which prevented the event from taking place in 2015.

Hockenheim circuit organizers have confirmed they are ready to welcome back the F1 next year “We have a contract for 2016 and 2018. It was discussed and validated by the World Council and we always respect the contracts”, commented Georg Seiler, director of the Hockenheimring, to the DPA news agency.

But the Hockenheim organizers are still worried about the results obtained in the stands which will determine the future of F1 in Germany. « We will need a full house. I therefore ask fans to come back next year for the race to ensure a future with F1 at Hockenheim.", added Georg Seiler.

The director of the German circuit is also banking on the outcome of the 2015 Championship to attract crowds. “We have to hope that Nico Rosberg is champion this year so that Germany has two champions facing each other, the second being Sebastian Vettel in Ferrari who won four world titles. We can't do better. »
