Yusuke Hasegawa, director of Honda's F1 department, confirmed that the Japanese engine manufacturer was in discussions with several teams.

Honda in discussions with several teams

If Honda struggles to make its Power Unit reliable and obtain performance with McLaren, the Japanese engine manufacturer nevertheless remains on the lookout to equip other teams on the grid in the future F1.

Yusuke Hasegawa, director of Honda's F1 department, confirmed this desire of the Japanese manufacturer in the Sochi paddock where the Russian GP is being held this weekend.

“It is our duty to equip several stables. We are in discussions with several teams because it would be profitable for us to have more data acquisition with a second or third client team”, commented the Japanese.

“We knew we had to get back to basics last year. It's not an excuse, but we still need time and I don't think we've made any major mistakes. Our basic concept is correct and we should progress”, added Yusuke Hasegawa.

Honda is in particular in discussions with Sauber F1 Team which is currently evolving with the former Power Unit of Ferrari.

“We have suffered a lot from having stopped our activities in F1 because we have a lot of catching up to do”, recognized Yusuke Hasegawa.
