Honda takes “countermeasures” for its Power Units

Honda has carried out “countermeasures” on the Power Units of the Red Bull in order to eliminate the electrical problems encountered last weekend at the Austrian GP. The Japanese engine manufacturer of the two Taureau Rouge teams experienced a difficult test at Spielberg with two retirements due to electrical problems for Max Verstappen et Alexander albon.

In order to avoid such disappointment in the future, Honda has revised its copy for the second event in a row contested this weekend at the Red Bull Ring with the Styrian Grand Prix.

“Problems encountered with cars Aston Martin Red Bull racing in the last race were of electrical origin, but the causes were different, explained the technical director of Honda Racing F1 Toyoharu Tanabe. We analyzed this together with the teams and we put in place countermeasures for this weekend. »

Honda clarified that the Power Units of the RB16s of Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon had not been damaged by these failures and that they would be operational again for the Styrian GP. Red Bull hopes to bounce back after a completely missed weekend. The Thai was in contention for the podium a few laps from the finish before his collision with Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes).
