Horner rules out new Albon-Gasly swap at Red Bull immediately

By achieving a historic victory at Monza last Sunday, Pierre Gasly remembered the good memories of Red Bull Racing, who sent him home Toro Rosso, which became AlphaTauri in 2020, after 12 small races last year.

While the Frenchman has been performing XXL performances since his return to Faenza (how can we forget his podium in Brazil?), his successor Alexander albon struggle in the immense shadow cast by Max Verstappen. A situation reminiscent of that of Gasly in Milton Keynes 12 months earlier.

Knowing the modus operandi and the ruthless character of the Austrian giant, could the two men exchange seats again?

« Pierre does an extraordinary job, responded Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing team principal, on the sidelines of the Tuscan GP at Mugello. Since returning to Toro Rosso, he has regained his confidence and is driving incredibly well. AlphaTauri does a great job with him. It's nice to see that things turned out well for him.

As for places at Red Bull, we are fully focused on Alex. We want to try to give him every means to keep his seat.

It wouldn't make sense to swap places again. AlphaTauri is now more of a sister team than a junior team. And Franz (Tost, main team of Faenza) is happy with Pierre ».

Horner specifies, however, that a final decision will be made “ later this season ". If AlphaTauri aims to emerge from the shadow of the parent team, Gasly is perhaps not worse off by remaining within a team where he feels like a fish in water.
