Hülkenberg: “the general reset of 2021, we must not miss it”

Excited by the 5th place achieved last weekend at home at the German GP, Nico Hulkenberg spoke to AUTOhebdo by discussing the future prospects of Renault Sport F1 Team fighting to maintain its 4th place in the Manufacturers' Championship.

“We are still far away, it's true, but it is Renault's progress since its return as a team that I prefer to measure. Between last year and today, the gain is enormous. It is not a step forward that has been taken, but a leap. The three teams in front of us have resources and infrastructure that we don't have, and we always knew we weren't going to catch up with them in two seasons.", he admitted.

Nico Hülkenberg is aware that he will still have to wait before hoping to achieve his first podium in F1. The German hopes that the future technical regulations of 2021 will allow the cards to be redistributed in the hierarchy of the field.

“I am happy with the decision to join Renault, assured Nico Hülkenberg. We are on the right trajectory, there is no doubt about it. Obviously, it will still take time. One year, two years, three years? We will see. I don't believe that the 2019 changes will have a big impact on the hierarchy. On the other hand, we must not miss the general “reset” of 2021…”
