Jacky Ickx: “I didn’t do what I loved”

An eclectic driver who distinguished himself in numerous motorsport disciplines, Jacky Ickx spoke in the 40th anniversary issue of AUTOhebdo looking back on his career, his perception of the evolution of motorsport or even on the regrets he felt despite his busy career.

“I didn’t do what I loved or would have liked to do. I have a lot of admiration for those who say: I wanted this and I got it. I can't do it... It's not a joke... I would have liked to be a gardener, a gamekeeper in a reserve, something like that. My childhood took place in total freedom, in perfect autonomy, often alone walking in nature...", confided the six-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
