Jenson Button ready for the rain

After the good results of McLaren Friday and even during the first minutes of the qualifying session, the Woking team could hope for better than the third row on the starting grid. But Jenson Button, fifth, does not despair. “ Fifth, it?s not so bad, comments the Briton. I think our car is well set up for the race. There is also a risk of rain tomorrow and our settings could pay off in wet conditions. »

Although he set the fifth time in Q3, Jenson Button was not calm during this qualifying session. “I had to struggle a bit with my car in the first two sessions,” confides the World Champion. It was better then in Q3 but it was already a little too late. The car behaved differently, I had to play with the front wing in order to have a good feeling with the car. So it wasn?t a bad ride but it?s always a little frustrating to have to search for the right balance for so long. »

Jenson Button will therefore start in fifth position, hoping that the rain will appear well above Shanghai. This season, the Briton took his first victory with McLaren, taking advantage of wet conditions in Australia to make a daring choice of tires and carve his way to victory. The Chinese drops could therefore still help the World Champion. But this time, the other drivers will be warned.
